Halo 3: A Week of Mythic

The Newest Map Pack in Halo 3 is the Mythic Map Pack, anyone to not know that has been hiding in a cave in High Ground. The Mythic Map Pack Contains 3 Maps. Assembly, Orbital, and Sandbox. Assembly is the symmetrical slayer and multi-objective map, Orbital is the most likely Free-For all / Slayer / One-Sided Objective Map, and Sandbox is the Ultimate Forge Map.

Assembly View

So What is "A Week of Mythic?"

Simple, A Week of Mythic is a semi week-long Analog Project Event starting at the U.S. release of Halo Wars on Tuesday, March 3rd, and Ending on Sunday, March 8th. It's simply a week full of ONLY mythic map gameplay events. That means that if you join an official custom games session, you can expect to be on Assembly, Orbital, or a map made on Sandbox.

How Do I Join In?

Tuesday through Thursday, there will most likely be little to no incredibly official custom games sessions. Just join the games of Benislav or X53rdandwalmer if you would like to play. Please do not spam the inboxes of either of us, because if we want to play custom games with you guys, we'll set it to Open Party or Friends Only.

I Plan on Making an Awesome Sandbox Map, Can we play it?

Of course! Analog Project has always been about the community. There's a few steps you're going to have to follow if you'd like us to play it though. First, your map has to be playable. We'd love to play all of your maps at events, but if you made a map on Sandbox where you spawn in a killball, it may be funny to your perspective, but it's certainly not playable and won't be considered for events. Second: During the week, we may give party leader to anyone who is trusted enough to have it. However, on the weekend events, we'll require that we set the map up.

Okay, So How do I send you my map?

It's incredibly easy. Just put it on your file share and send a message to either Benislav or X53rdandwalmer. You only need to send us ONE message. Don't worry, we've received it. A good message would say in either voice or text, "I have a map on my fileshare for the weekend event". That's all you need to say, anything else is nice, but won't make it more likely to show up. Truth be told, the weekend events are going to be long enough for us to showcase all of the good maps we've received. Don't be insulted if yours doesn't pop up though.

Alright... Exactly what ARE the Weekend Events?

The Weekend Events will appear Friday and Saturday and will be late-night Mythic Events where you have the ability to showcase your maps. To join, it's the same as normal, however, to secure yourself a spot, send a message to Benislav

or X53rdandwalmer to reserve yourself a spot at the event. Anyone who hasn't reserved a spot will be allowed, but you could be kicked if a reservee wants to get into a full party.

(Everything Deletable)

Thats All, Folks!

Thanks for reading this update, and we hope to see you owning on some Mythic Maps with the AP crew. Til then, later guys,

Halo Wars "Demo" Review

Hello fellow gamers and welcome to another game review by yours truly, Nick. Today I will be reviewing the un-realeased, RTS (real-time strategy) game, Halo Wars. To check out a trailer made by, once again, yours truly, Nick click here.

Seeing as I have only played the demo for this great, addicting game, this review will be base on what i know from the demo.

Halo Wars is as i said a RTS game. I find RTS game fairly addicting, but add Halo to the equation OMG. The game is quite simple to control and if you have trouble take the tutorials. Another great thing is you can play as UNSC or Covenant. So i would say the over-all game play is great.

The two levels of campaign also give you a good feel for the RTS game. The story of the campaign sounds great. Also another thing is in the campaign there are skulls to be found. But back on topic the campaign is very fun and has a good story.

The graphics are great. Watching the cinematics was exiting and the quality was great. The audio is also great. It has the Halo feel but with a new edge. The game quality is just great.

So overall i would rate the "seventh most anticipated game of the E3" (IGN Xbox Team) Halo wars about 9 out of Ten. Now stop reading this and go download the demo.

Your fellow Analogproject-eer,

Nick

Forge: Helpful Hint's & Tips

Hey AnalogProject-ers Nick here. I'm gunna be giving you a few helpfull hints and tips on Forging a good Halo 3 map.

Alright the believe the most important thing is making the map fair. Oh and also Making the map smooth. Some other things are spawing and starting points, Symetrical and asymetrical tips, making good infection maps, and making maps appealing.

Making the Map "Smooth"

What i mean by "smooth" is dont have bumps in walkways or boxes. For example, if one box 1 is right on the floor and box 2 is on a wall which is on the ground, the player will have to jump to get up which can be frusterating. So instead you should Make the Wall spawn about 25 seconeds after start then place box 2 directly on the ground. Then when the wall spawns you set it to start at start once again. If you don't get it right the first time try it again. Also on maps like Foundry

Making the Map Fair

Now making the map fair is very import especialy game types like CTF, Assault, VIP, or Slayer. Some ways of keeping it fair are Making sure No "power weapons spawn right by one team but not the other". For instance, if a Rocket Launcher is right by the Attackers (Team 2) starting points but only Battle Rifles are by the Defenders (Team 1) starting point, the Attackers will most likley (unless their terrible noobs) get an easy head start. But if you absolutley must have the Rocket Launcher spawn right by a team, then even it out and put maybe a shotgun with 1 extra clip by the other. Another great example is if a turret is by Team 1, put a Warthog by team 2.

Another thing that can cause and unfair advantage ghosts. Their very overpowering... well can be. If you make the enviroment so that it is hard for the gohst to get around, it's not as bad. An easy way of making a map fair is making it symetrical but we'll get into that later.

Spawing And Starting Points

Many people either don't understand, or are just to lazy to put spawing and starting points on the map.

First off spawn points are a lot different then starting points. A starting point is obviously the pornt where someone starts at the begginning of a game or round. A spawn point is where you respawn after being killed.

If a spawn or starting point is set to neutrel, then anyone from any team can spawn or start there. This is usauly best for FFA gamtypes.

Symetrical & Asymetrical

The easiest way to make a map fair is to make it symetrical. This mean that each side is exactly the same in each and every way. This includes spawing and starting points, weapons and vehicles, goals and last but not least scenery. Ever bit has to the same. This isnt always easy though because it can hare to have object symetrical on each half. But thats where foundry is helpful. If your a forger and you havnt notice by now there is a grid on the floor of Foundy. Match stuff up with the grid. Symetrical maps are easy to make if ya know how!

Now Asymetrical, are very easy. You can basically have any scenery anywhere... Well not just any where if ya want it to look good. Make asymetrical maps fair as read above but fun as well. The best way to start a asymetrical map is to simplay place a double box and build form there. Be amaginitive, maybe make a dragon ar a scarab. Try making a small town or a couple building. If theres vehicles throw in a couple jumps (not to many). What I like to do when making asymetrical maps is start with one idea and build from there.

Making Good Infection Maps

Almost everyone loves infection, but only if its a good map. Basically keep it fair to some extent. Keep it fun but still challengeng for both the Humans and the Zombies, and while forging be creative(make traps, secret doors, hidden telleporters, ect.).Infection maps are almost always asymetrical its fun that way. But to keep an infection game fair i suggest no Needlers. Do you know how frusterating Fat Kid i when you cant even walk! Also remeber, if the zombie cant jump high the dont put high obstacles. Overall make syure the game settings are fair. If the zombies is really slow, the he better be strong, and if hes fast, dont set him on instant kill. Also the normal (not alpha zombie) shouldnt be intanse kill unless theres lots of cover. Remember if people dont like the infection settings theyll most likley quit.

Making Maps Appealing

Another big part of forging is making maps appealing. Have the map getting players to want to keep playing within the first few minutes of starting wheather its just nice looking or they just weant to keep looking around. Make it so the map has mare than on level. Its not that fun only being on the ground floor. If you need to make things similair to other maps that had appeal to you. Make the map look nice using more advanced tricks (we wont discuss those right now). Get a second opinion from a friend. Often if it looks done to you, its still need a little more.

Follow all the basic rules above while foring and you should have a fairly decent map. Remember to keep maps fair but still fun. Now quit reading this, go make a map and have a good one.

P.S.Save a film of you making the map for proof its yours its the only way you can take credit for it. Sorry for the bad punctuation my keyboard is messing up.

Your Fellow Gamer,

Nick

Game Review: Left 4 Dead

Hello fellow gamer welcome to another game review. Today i will be reviwing "Left 4 Dead".

Over all left for dead is fairly fun for about a week. Sure everyone loves the fact that theres Zombies and Guns but everything about the game is the same. Basically you start at one point and get the other without getting pwned by the thousands of zombie's, over and over again. If there wasn't four player co-op the game would be pretty boring.

The graphics are pretty good. When you shoot a zombies head off there head like explodes with blood and such flying all over which you all love don't lie. Also if the smoker (Zombie with a big tongue that like grabs you and pulls you toward him) grabs you his tongue will not just go through a wall or somthing it will go around or over and obstacle. So rhe overall graphics are pretty good.

The single player and multiplayer are pretty much the same. If it just you playing alone then there are three bots fighting with you. If your fighting alone then there's your friend fighting with you instead.

The campaign is the same as multiplayer (versus) you just run from the zombies. In versus you get the chance to be a zombie though.

The story is pretty much the same as most zombie games. Your the last people alive and you fight to live.Nothing original.

So over all I'd give "Left 4 Dead" about 6 stars out of 10.

Your Game Reviewer,

Nick

P.S.... People please go to the forums and comment I'm getting tired of seeing NICKSTER on all the recent messages...

So do it or I slapa youa

Game Review: Gears Of War 2

Hey hey hey, welcome to the first Analog Project game review. Today i will be reviewing "Gears of War 2" the sequel to "Gears of War".

Over all i enjoyed the game alot especialy the fact that you could curb stomp (Below) enemy's and watch chunks of their head fly all over. But at the same time i dislike when you curb stomp and enemy and the blood covers the screen sure it's cool but it's kind of distracting. Other than that the graphics are pretty great.

One thing that i really liked was the multiplayer mode. Sure it doesn't have customizable game type settings, but the fact you could play with friends against "bots" ( Basically a robot or a character no one is playing) I loved. No wait time for a match sounds great to me. I also loved the "Horde" on multiplayer. Fighting waves of enemies with friends is very fun.

The campaign is fun as well. Single player campaign can be boring and on the easier difficulties goes by fairly fast. Multiplayer campaign isn't as boring cause you have someone to talk to.It only has 2 player co-op though and I prefer huge co-op games, the more the merrier (that's what she said). But 2 player co-op is better than nothing.

The story was a pretty good story and a good continuation to the first one. i guess it was even good enough for a Movie targeted to be released this summer. I didn't pay too much attention to the story in the first Gears but Gears 2 had a easily understood one.

One thing that really bugged me was the controls. Sure they were simple but "A" was used for like 15 different actions. I'd be sitting crouched behind sandbags when a "Butcher" came up and pwned me cause i kept rolling into him instead of jumping away.

Other than the few flaws I would give "Gears of War 2" 7.9 curb stomped heads outta 10.

Any problems, suggestion's, Dissagree's or complaints I'd be gald to hear them.

--Your coolest game reveiwer,

--Nick

The New Analog Project

Welcome Everyone to the New Analog Project. At this time, you may be wondering (and probably are): How is this the "New" Analog Project? Excellent Question, because really, it all looks the same. Well, for one thing you may have noticed that the .tk now redirects to the homepage instead of the forums. This is because the homepage will now be improved from its' previous version.

First of all, the homepage blog has been improved. Now not only can posts be added by myself, but also registered staff members. Because of this we will now be requiring two jobs: Game Reviewer and Article Journalist.

Game Reviewer: A Game Reviewer is essentially what's in the name, 'Game Reviewer'. Game Reviewers must be experienced in Gaming and be able to rate a game on the following traits: Graphics, Single Player, Multi-Player (If Any), Gameplay, and Story to give a game a rating out of 5. They must be able to give statistics to back up their answer i.e. not 'I don't like this game'.

Article Journalist: Whereas it sounds fancier than it is, the Article Journalist is required to write an article ever so often about the game world. (When a game is coming out, DLC information, etc.)

Happy New Year, Happy New Analog Project.

--Ben

Website and Forums Lead Administrator

Xbox Live: Benislav

Weekly Update - September 1 - 5

I haven't updated in a little while, and with the recent uprising in Xbox Live activity, I thought I had better, so, without further ado, here goes the weekly update.

APGU Information

We haven't been having much information regarding the APGU lately, but I have to say it's still going. I've had my doubts and I've thought of killing it off, but I have certainty now. The reasons I wanted to disband the APGU is because of our jointing with the clan CGR. But I have now reclaimed the facts: CGR is a clan, APGU is a gamers organization, two completely different things.
The APGU is, more than less, a group of gamers who like to play together. We will have the authority and seperation as follows:

Commisars: The APGU Commisars are the people who run and sort out the players into groups or factions. This roll is sort of like a clan leader.

Brigadier: The APGU Brigadiers lead brigades of APGU groups. Basically, these guys are the higher authority to talk to with complaints or suggestions for your group if you can't talk to your Group Leader.

Group Leaders: The APGU group leaders exist to manage their own group of gamers. Groups should be from the same time zone or time area, speak the same language, and play the same games. The group leader can organize group events and eject people from the group. The group can also reccomend people for his group to the Brigadiers.

Loggers: The APGU loggers are responsible for logging information about their assigned groups. Loggers can also report information firsthand to the commisars. The loggers should maintain a friends list of all APGU members under their control.

How do I join the APGU?

Answer: Use the APGU page. If that doesn't work, simply ask a Commisar like Benislav or CloserDiamond, a Brigadier, or a Group Leader. As soon as you're in, we'll sort you out ASAP.

What else should I know about the APGU or groups?

First of all, remember that it's not a clan. You can join no matter if you're in a clan or not. As far as groups go, groups are organized mainly by Time Zone and games you're interested in. If you want to be in a group with someone else specifically, tell a Commisar / Brigadier and we'll get it sorted out ASAP.

What will the APGU have to do with events?

The APGU has a spot over the first-come first-serve basis. Basically, the first people to sign up for an event will be in it first, but for people who don't sign up, APGU members have a quicker chance to get into an AP official event.
Also, APGU groups can start their own special events for their groups only. Group leaders can also assign their members to teams for these events too.
However, when it comes to groups, there is no authority for Group Leaders or Brigadiers unless they are Event Staff.

Thanks for reading everyone, don't forget to sign up on the FORUMS! (link up at the top) for lots of gaming discussions, polls, and more.

--Benislav
Head Administrator
analogproject.webs.com

Weekly Update 11 - 15

What's important besides what's coming up? Nothing so let's get it done with.

Analog Project Map Competition

The last competition was a bit flawed and imperfect, but we're trying it again. Below you'll find the rules and guidelines; as well as the prize.

The Winner will Receive: Their map showcased in events and a tournament, and VIP on the forums.

Rules & Guidelines:

1.) All maps must be 100% yours. Your map cannot be taken from anyone else and we will check to see if it is.

2.) All maps must be fair to play if they are to appear in a tournament. The spawns and weapon placement should be fair.

3.) If the map is to have any objective spawns in it, we are to be notified what they are.

4.) There cannot be any hidden weapons on the map.

5.) Gameplay must be close to 100% balanced.

6.) Any maps can be used, including Ghost Town, Blackout, and Avalanche.

7.) Make your maps quick, but know that we do not yet have a deadline ready.

8.) Rules and deadlines are subject to change.

Special Gametypes and Restrictions:

Assault - If the map is primarily assault, it has a chance of winning, like all maps, however, depending on if the tournament is 1v1, 2v2, or 4v4, we will decide if it is used.

Oddball - Considering the map is good for FFA and Team Oddball alike, oddball will be used if selected.

Capture the Flag - CTF is a fair game and possible to play with any amount of players on fair teams, it will be used if selected.

VIP - VIP will not be used if there is a 1v1 tournament and there is a small chance it will be used for 2v2 or above.

Territories - Territories will only be used on a 4v4 tournament, or a 2v2 if a small game.

Juggernaut - Juggernaut will not be used, as it is a FFA game.

Infection - Infection will not be used in tournaments unless they are Free For All. Considering Infection is popular, it will be used in an event if the map is selected. Any infection maps or gametypes that give the survivors an extreme advantage will not be selected.

--Benislav
Lead Administrator
analogproject.webs.com
Big Bucket o' Awesome: CGR & Analog Project Merger

As some of you may know, CGR and Analog Project just recently came together as a unified clan and website. CGR will still be CGR and AP will still be AP; only the best is coming out of this merger. But I thought I'd give a little backstory on both.

CGR

CGR; or Community Gaming Renegades is a clan that was started by Sladgen, Special Fred95, and CGR Sparta 228 after they left their former clan; RGC. CGR is a large clan and is currently led by Sladgen. If you would like to join you can send an Xbox Live message to any of the three.

Analog Project

Considering you're on the website, finding the history won't be too hard, but I'll tell you anyway. Basically; Analog Project was started by four guys who wanted to make a website about gaming. Those four guys eventually narrowed down into one. I was owner and lead admin of analog project for a while, and while we may not have been huge, our events were fun. If you'd like to join AP, just click forums up at the top and register!

The Goods

With the merger also brings fun. The Analog Project Event may be returning around the corner for Halo 3. Also for Halo 3; map competitions and tournaments possibly. Stay tuned for all this information as the more response I get from it; the likelier it is.

Thanks, guys.

--Benislav
Lead Admin
analogproject.webs.com
